ACTIVITIES

Tonga Assets Managers and Associates (TAMA) was established in 2011 to acquire the assets of the Small Industries Centre – originally set up to provide collocated factory and warehouse space for small to medium business. The Small Industries Centre (SIC) was administered by the Ministry of Labour, Commerce and Industries and acted as landlord and manager for these light industrial sites.

At the time of establishment, the government recognized that the provision of these services were primarily a commercial operation and would be improved if undertaken within the SOE framework, requiring greater transparency and accountability for results. This has proven to be the case with financial and operational performance improving since corporatization.

The next phase will see TAMA progressively privatize its portfolio.
