The Public Trust Office was established under the Public Trust Office Act 1975. to administer the estates of deceased people, provide trustee functions and offer will-making services.
In its estate administration role, PTO is subject to the Public Trust Office Regulations 1978, Administration Act 1975, the Wills Act 1975 and the Trustee Act 1975.
PTO is also subject to the:
- Companies Act 2001
- Public Bodies (Performance and Accountability) Act 2001
- Public Bodies (Performance and Accountability) Amendment Act 2015
- Public Bodies (Performance and Accountability) Act Regulations 2002 and
- Composition of Boards of Public Bodies Act 2012.
PTO is governed by a board of directors that is responsible to the Minister of Public Enterprises.
Vision and Mission
PTO’s vision is “to be the first choice provider of estate and trustee services in Samoa.” Its mission is “to offer, as a Public Trading Body, professional, independent estate and trustee Services to the Samoan community”.
