Activities
The Electric Power Corporation (EPC) is a State-owned Enterprise established under the Electric Power Corporation Act 1980 to generate, transmit, distribute and sell electricity throughout Samoa. The Corporation now provides power to 98 per cent of the population of Samoa.
EPC is also subject to the:
- Electricity Act 2010
- Public Bodies (Performance and Accountability) Act 2001
- Public Bodies (Performance and Accountability) Amendment Act 2015
- Public Bodies (Performance and Accountability) Act Regulations 2002 and
- Composition of Boards of Public Bodies Act 2012
- Companies Act 2001
Tariffs are set by the Electricity Regulator in compliance with the Electricity Act 2010.
EPC is governed by a board of directors that is responsible to the Minister of Public Enterprises, currently Minister Lautafi Selafi Purcell.
Vision and Mission
EPC’s mission is “To provide and maintain quality electricity services through innovative, sustainable and environmentally sound practices in developing renewable energy sources, generation and distribution infrastructure network, in partnership with customers and stakeholders to support the development of Samoa”.
Community Service Obligations
The Government paid $3,806,935.30 for the provision of transmission lines in the rural areas, installation, repair and maintenance and consumption of streetlights.
